Which type of homeowner are you?
It takes all different people to make a world my Mum used to say.
The Maintainer.
This person regularly has the gutters cleared and checks the roof. They know that the house doesn’t take care of itself. Understanding that prevention is better than cure, they couldn’t think of anything worse than getting a leaking roof during a storm. General maintenance around the house is always priority as well as ensuring the roof is functional.

The Showcase.
This person believes that Appearance is also important and if the home looks good then functionality is also taken care of. Just the look of the aging roof tells this homeowner that it’s time to replace the roof with a more current or contemporary style. Painting the roof could be an option providing the roof remains watertight and sound and the coating will last for many years to come and not need to be redone after a few years.

Most times home ownership is a combination of two or more partners which could be both of these types of people, one being concerned with only functionality and one more concerned with appearance. Or they could include The Fixer.
The Fixer.
This type of home owner prefers to fix things around the house as needed. In the case of the roof, fix it when it leaks. The roof could have an obvious gaping hole pointed out by a well-meaning neighbour who is politely told that it hasn’t leaked yet. It’s the reasoning of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” for most things around the house. Do-it-yourself is often a good solution.

As well as being different, homeowners also have a wide range of reasons for taking their standpoint; financial, future plans for the house, peace of mind, enjoyment of the home, etc.
